Steve McQueen Always Felt Guilty About One Famous Great Escape Scene

A thrilling sequence with Steve McQueen jumping a six-foot barbed-wire barrier on a motorcycle ranks awfully high on a list of all-time greatest movie stunts.
McQueen prided himself on doing his own stunts. It was part of his legend, so he never felt great about the scene because this was a rare occasion when he didn’t perform the stunt.
Bud Ekins, a superstar stuntman who died in 2007, is rightly worshiped today for pulling off the technically daunting stunt in "The Great Escape."
McQueen once told Priscilla Page “ I always felt a little guilty about that. A lot of people thought it was me making that jump[...] Back in '62, I just didn't have the savvy.
