Stephen King's First Acting Role Wasn't In A Stephen King Film
By CHRIS EVANGELISTA
While many might assume Stephen King's first acting role would have been in an adaptation of his own work, it was actually in George A. Romero's 1981 film "Knightriders."
In this film about a traveling renaissance fair troupe that performs jousts on motorcycles instead of horses, King makes his big screen debut as a character named "Hoagie Man."
He plays a small, humorous role, appearing in the audience during a jousting scene, eating a hoagie in a gluttonous way while sporting a paisley shirt and a cap turned inside out.
Interestingly, the woman sitting next to him, credited as "Hoagie Man's Wife," is King's real-life wife, Tabitha King. King and Romero later worked together on "Creepshow."
