Stephen King's Favorite Book Still Hasn't Received A Movie Adaptation
By RYAN SCOTT
There has been a surge of Stephen King adaptations since the tremendous success of "It" in 2017. Yet, his favorite book, "Lisey's Story," still hasn't been made into a movie.
In a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone, King called "Lisey's Story" the best book of his career, saying, "It was about marriage, and I'd never written about that before."
Published in 2006 and well-received by critics, "Lisey's Story" was eventually adapted into a miniseries by Apple TV+ in 2021, with King himself handling the adaptation.
However, the miniseries was not well-received by critics and viewers, leading to the suggestion that the material might fare better as a movie adapted by someone other than King.
While King has had mixed results adapting his own work, other filmmakers have often created highly successful adaptations of his novels, like "It" and "The Shawshank Redemption."
