Stephen King Thinks This Stephen King Movie Deserved An Oscar Nomination
By CHRIS EVANGELISTA
“Misery” is the only movie adaptation of all of Stephen King's novels to win an Academy Award: Kathy Bates earned a Best Actress Oscar for her role in the film.
If King had his way, another movie should have been recognized by the Academy: "1408,” the 2007 horror flick adapted from King's short story of the same name.
In King's nonfiction book, "Danse Macabre," the author states that "John Cusack gives a bravura performance [...] As a one-man depiction of madness, it stands alone."
King added that by overlooking Cusack's performance, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences once again showed that it almost never rewards great work in a horror movie.
