Star Wars: Rogue One's Jyn Erso Almost Had A Key Jedi Connection

The "Star Wars" franchise often centers on the Jedi, but "Rogue One" departed from the norm and featured a protagonist with no ties to the group or the Force, Jyn Erso.
However, "The Art of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" reveals that early script versions made Jyn's mother a Jedi hiding and gave her a young brother to watch over.
The idea was dropped, and Jyn would have a story contrasting to Luke Skywalker's in "A New Hope." Jyn was thrust into a harsh life at an early age, due to the Empire.
This idea, coupled with her lack of connections to the Jedi and the Force, is also what makes Jyn a fitting "Star Wars" hero for the modern age.
