In “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” Professor Huyang, an architect and lightsaber designer droid thousands of years old, guides force-sensitive younglings studying to be Jedi.
Huyang possesses a database with information on every lightsaber and its wielder. He aids young padawans in constructing their weapons and even helps with lightsaber training.
Initially, Yoda was planned to be on the ship with the younglings, but series creator Dave Filoni believed that his presence would stifle any conflict that occurred.
Filoni defended his decision in an interview with IGN, sharing, “Wait a minute, I don't care who's attacking that ship. If Yoda's on the ship, this is not going to be a problem.”
Huyang was the show’s writer, Christian Taylor's, idea. Filoni celebrated the idea: “Makes a ton of sense if you think that this droid could have been around for a thousand years.”
