Kelley felt that as his character, Dr. Leonard McCoy, was human, he could move to another gig easily after the show ended, but that wasn’t the case.
No casting agent was able to take his whole career into perspective. Despite roles prior to Star Trek, people would forget that he was capable of a lot more than playing Dr. McCoy.
