Star Trek: Section 31 Is Finally Bringing Back A Fan-Favorite TNG Character
By WITNEY SEIBOLD
Star Trek: Discovery has inspired a spinoff movie, Section 31, which explores the clandestine organization originating from "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."
The film will star actress Michelle Yeoh, reprising her role as Empress Philippa Georgiou, an evil dictator abducted from the Mirror Universe known for its villainous characters.
According to Variety, Yeoh will be joined by fan-favorite character Rachel Garrett from "Star Trek: TNG," who has not been seen since the 1990 episode "Yesterday's Enterprise."
Variety reported on the set of “Section 31,” Yeoh speaking with co-star Kacey Rohl, who is playing a younger version of the character originally played by actress Tricia O'Neil.
Screenwriter Craig Sweeney said Garrett's presence is a nod to Trekkies, and not lore that needs study, adding the entertainment is "true to the universe but appeals to newcomers."
