Some Of The Shortest Scenes In Dune: Part Two Took The Longest To Film
By JOE ROBERTS
Most of "Dune: Part Two" takes place in the desert of the planet Arrakis, which left director Denis Villeneuve "sand traumatized" and others passing out in the heat.
However, one of the biggest challenges for production was shooting the smaller, more intimate moments between Timothée Chalamet's Paul Atreides and Zendaya's Chani.
Villeneuve told the New York Times how some scenes that looked very simple onscreen had to be stitched together using shots from various locations.
He explained the method was "to make sure that we have the right rock at the right color at the right time of the day with the precise sun. It was constructed like a puzzle."
Chalamet added that short scenes of a one-on-one conversation atop the dunes were shot at dawn, "sometimes over three days" when the crew only had "30 minutes or an hour."
