Scream VI Directors Haven’t Given Up On Another Neve Campbell Film
By BILL BRIA
When “Scream” director Wes Craven passed away in 2015, directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, collectively known as Radio Silence, took over the franchise.
Radio Silence’s “Scream” from 2022 reunited Neve Campbell’s character Sidney with returning veteran characters, as well as a group of new protagonists and potential suspects.
Campbell did not end up returning for “Scream VI,” the fifth film in the series, because of a dispute over her salary, but Radio Silence hopes she’ll one day return to the series.
In “Scream VI,” Gale Weathers explains Sidney’s absence with a line of dialogue stating that Sidney moved her family to a secure location and that she deserves a “happy ending.”
Bettinelli-Olpin explained, “We'd never give up on her. We love Neve, and we love Sidney. So we'd love to be able to make another movie with her, and we're not giving up.”
Radio Silence's “Scream” films are centered on Sam, the Final Girl struggling with her blood relation to evil Billy Loomis, but their shift in focus doesn't mean Sidney won’t return.
