Russell Crowe Is Winning At The Box Office With A Movie You’ve Never Heard Of
By RYAN SCOTT
Russell Crowe, the Oscar-winning actor known for “Gladiator” and “A Beautiful Mind,” has shifted to more soul-entertaining projects like “Unhinged” and “The Pope's Exorcist.”
His latest action movie, “Land of Bad,” quietly made its way into theaters, staying under the radar but managing to secure a spot in the weekend's top ten at the box office.
Penned by David Frigerio, the film centers on an elite extraction team ambushed in enemy territory, leaving rookie officer Kinney (Liam Hemsworth) outnumbered but determined.
Facing an imminent air strike, Kinney's sole lifeline lies in the guidance of Air Force drone pilot Reaper (Crowe), laying the foundation for a high-stakes rescue mission.
The movie raked in $1.8 million from slightly more than 1,100 screens, with an impressive per-screen average of over $1,600. It secured the No. 10 spot, surpassing “Mean Girls.”
While falling short of breaking even, the film's performance proved satisfactory for its distributor, The Avenue, in garnering attention amidst the challenging 2024 landscape.
