Rian Johnson Cast Glass Onion Like The Guest List Of A 'Dinner Party'
By ERNESTO VALENZUELA
Part of the fun of “Knives Out” and “Glass Onion” are the incredible ensemble casts of each movie, but aside from Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, the movies don’t share any significant cast members. Putting together the perfect cast seems to be one of director Rian Johnson’s special talents, and in an interview, one cast membered revealed his secrets.
On “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, Katheryn Hahn talked about “Glass Onion,” and revealed Johnson’s thought processes behind casting. As Hahn described it, Johnson “said he casts things like he would host a dinner party. Because […] you're with this group so much that you better have an awesome group […] that you're gonna want to spend time together with.”
Hahn called “Glass Onion” a positive experience, although she was surprised the cast worked so well together. Hahn said, it’s "not always the case, where you have such a fun time working on something, sometimes it doesn't translate to the screen," but for “Glass Onion” the camaraderie of the actors can be felt in the film thanks to Johnson’s incredible casting.
