“X-Men '97" is based in part on the storyline that followed "The Trial of Magneto" where Magneto comes to live at Xavier’s school and becomes a teacher.
The book is specifically named “The Last Will and Testament of Charles Xavier,” the title of the 2014 “Uncanny X-Men” comic story arc, where a possessed Cyclops murders Xavier.

“Planet-Size X-Men” #1 takes these “Mutant Circuits” to the extreme when they terraform Mars into a copy of Earth. However, it's unclear if the show will take it that far.
