Ranking The Best Easter Eggs In Marvel’s X-Men ‘97 Trailer

9. Storm’s Hair
While the original series features Storm with long, flowing hair, “X-Men ’97” has ditched this design for her mohawk hairdo from decades prior.
In 1983’s “Uncanny X-Men” #173, Storm trades out her original uniform for a punk outfit and a mohawk. Storm’s hair has changed for the original series, but not her white costume.
8. Pregnant Jean
The “X-Men ’97” trailer shows Cyclops and Jean Grey’s relationship has continued to grow strong, with the couple kissing and Jean being visibly pregnant.
The child could be Rachel Summers, born in the alternate future of "Days of Future Past." However, it's likely Nathan Summers, the time-traveling cyborg called Cable.
7. Magneto’s Trial
During the trailer, Magneto stands before the United Nations assembly in an image similar to “Uncanny X-Men” #200, “The Trial of Magneto.”
“X-Men '97" is based in part on the storyline that followed "The Trial of Magneto" where Magneto comes to live at Xavier’s school and becomes a teacher.
6. Xavier’s Will
The “X-Men ‘97” trailer ends with Magneto reading the will and showing it to the X-Men, boasting that “everything [Xavier] built now belongs to me.”
The book is specifically named “The Last Will and Testament of Charles Xavier,” the title of the 2014 “Uncanny X-Men” comic story arc, where a possessed Cyclops murders Xavier.
5. Combo Moves
One of the best shots in the trailer is Gambit and Wolverine’s combo move. Team-ups like this are common in the comics, such as the famous “fastball special.”
“Planet-Size X-Men” #1 takes these “Mutant Circuits” to the extreme when they terraform Mars into a copy of Earth. However, it's unclear if the show will take it that far.
