Ranking Alan Ritchson’s 7 Best Roles (That Aren’t Jack Reacher)
By DEBOPRIYAA DUTTA
Solving crimes as "Reacher" on Prime Video, Alan Ritchson is compelling. While it may be his best role so far, his career is marked with performances that need to be highlighted.
In "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," Ritchson’s Gloss is a formidable fighter, particularly adept at knife-throwing, earning a high score during the evaluation trials.
Gloss's role is fairly limited compared to the bigger scheme of things in "Catching Fire." This is a case of an actor doing their best with what they have been given.
Ritchson's Aimes injects a great deal of depth and badassery into the grittier, action-focused scenes of “Fast X,” the latest in the “Fast and Furious” franchise.
Ritchson is perfect for this role, and plays Aimes with straight-edged sincerity, giving some of the overtly dramatic yet lackluster action moments feel decidedly grounded.
"Titans" might not have been the most creatively mature or interesting take on the adult version of the “Teen Titans,” but Ritchson's Hank Hall/Hawk is a standout.
Ritchson's performance is as layered as it gets. He imbues Hawk with blunt machismo while juggling hidden vulnerabilities that manifest as ruthless, impulsive vigilantism.
This was the first official live-action portrayal of the DC Comics superhero, and Ritchson's portrayal highlighted the character's potential beyond his role in the Justice League.
