Quentin Tarantino Had A Pretty Good Reason For Not Casting Michelle Yeoh In Kill Bill
By ANYA STANLEY
Michelle Yeoh plays characters with a staunch spirit and meticulous discipline. In 1996, while Yeoh was recovering from fractured vertebrae, Quentin Tarantino visited her in Hong Kong and gave her encouragement to get back into her career.
His animated passion and genuine admiration for Yeoh’s stunt work moved her and provided some inspiration for Yeoh to return to work. A decade later, she could’ve been cast as the central antagonist, O-Ren Ishii, in “Kill Bill: Vol 1” and was asked as to why she wasn’t.
In an interview with Town & Country, Yeoh explained: "I asked Quentin the same question. He's very smart. He said, 'Who would believe that Uma Thurman could kick your ass?'" Let’s face it: That’s a solid point.
