Quantumania Star Jonathan Majors Found The Perfect 'Villain Song' For Kang
By DEVIN MEENAN
Despite being the world’s dominant media franchise, the MCU hasn’t produced many memorable musical themes for their heroes and even fewer for villains. However, Jonathan Majors has revealed he brought his own unofficial theme — David Banner’s “9mm” — to the set of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” to help get him in the mind of Kang the Conqueror.
The song, which features Akon, Lil Wayne, and Snoop Dogg, has aggressive self-aggrandizing lyrics that certainly fit a time-bending villain like Kang. The chorus gives the song its title and central motif: “I got a nine millimeter, Ready to go off any minute so you feel it (so you feel it), Because of the law, I had to conceal it (to conceal it), But if you f*** around you gon’ make me reveal it, ay (ay).”
Majors shared, “[It’s] essentially just like the hardest villain song. It’s got horn, it’s got the fanfare, the pomp and circumstance of a legion — Alexander the Great and [Julius] Caesar and everybody — coming home.” Although powerful themes are a great way to announce and sustain a villain’s presence, audiences won’t likely hear “9mm” in the film when it releases on February 17, 2023.
