Producer James Wan Is Already Thinking About A Sequel To M3GAN
By MATTHEW BILODEAU
James Wan's horror resume includes franchises like “Saw,” “Insidious,” and “The Conjuring,” so there is no doubt that the producer-director knows a thing or two about creating a successful horror franchise. Even though his latest science-fiction horror film “M3GAN” was released in theaters on January 6, 2023, Wan is already feeling confident about a sequel.
In an interview with Collider, Wan said, “For me, it's about creating the world, and knowing who the characters are, where the story could potentially go, and then building this bigger world, and then going into that and going, ‘Okay, I'm telling this particular story, but I know other stuff that's going on.’ So if we're fortunate enough to have sequels, then we have an idea of where we want to go.”
The teaser trailer for the movie has already made “M3GAN” a viral sensation, which could only aid in the movie's success at the box office. A successful box office showing for “Annabelle” in 2014 led to a trilogy of movies, so fans can bet that there is room in this decade for another horror trilogy involving a creepy doll if “M3GAN” brings in money.
