Picard's Annie Wersching Started Her Career With A Small Star Trek: Enterprise Role
By WITNEY SEIBOLD
Despite her 2020 cancer diagnosis, Annie Wersching continued acting until her untimely passing on January 29, 2023. Her most recent outing as the villainous Borg Queen in “Star Trek: Picard” was a fantastic performance, capping a 23-year acting career that featured her in many shows, including a 2002 episode of “Star Trek: Enterprise.”
In the episode “Oasis,” the Enterprise discovers a team of people hiding onboard a crashed ship, and the crew meets Mural (René Auberjonois) and his daughter Liana (Wersching). The actress was excited about her first TV role and to be working alongside a longtime actor and “Star Trek” veteran like Auberjonois, who taught Wersching much about performing on camera.
Actors who appear on “Star Trek” in supporting parts have a good chance of being cast in more prominent roles later or returning for occasional cameo appearances. Wersching was no exception, and fans of the series were treated to the actress’ magnificent take on the Borg Queen. Her TV career ended the same place it began: on the set of “Star Trek.”
