Peter Dinklage Still Has Some Frustrations With The Game Of Thrones Fandom
By MATTHEW BILODEAU
"Game of Thrones" is one of the biggest television series of all time, and with that comes one of the biggest fandoms — and we all know fandoms can turn on their beloved source material quickly. The ending of "GOT" may be one of the most infamous, fandom-infuriating TV bombs in modern memory, but star Peter Dinklage is frustrated by it for a less typical reason.
Dinklage has previously said that "GOT" fans just "wanted the pretty white people to ride off into the sunset together" at the end. Speaking with the Sunday Times, Dinklage added, "If somebody loves something they have their version of it in their head"; therefore, it's impossible to please everyone, especially with something as high-stakes as the ending of "GOT."
Dinklage also admitted that "if you appeal to everyone you're doing something wrong. And we offended a lot of people. For many fans, the final season of "GOT" felt rushed and unfulfilling, and while you can't cater to everyone — and Dinklage's performance as Tyrion Lannister was notably a fan favorite to the very end — the show's ending did irreparable damage to its reputation.
