Only One Stephen King Story Ever Made It Onto The Twilight Zone

Stephen King has become widely known for his horror stories, making it no surprise that one of his tales would eventually be adapted into an episode of “The Twilight Zone.”
Based on King’s short story and adapted by literary legend Harlan Ellison, “Gramma” is an episode from the 1980s revival of “The Twilight Zone” and explores the Cthulhu mythos.
The story follows Georgie, an 11-year-old left alone to care for his sick grandmother who finds the Necronomicon — a book of rites and evil spells invented by H.P. Lovecraft.
When he opens the book, his grandma cries out the names of ancient gods like Yog-Sothoth and Cthulhu. He soon discovers that his grandma has died.
While Georgie is relieved and horrified to discover she has died, he soon finds himself dragged into the bed by his grandma’s monstrous visage, which consumes him.
The story ends with Georgie’s mother coming home and finding her son, who informs her that Gramma died. The final shot is of him looking into the camera with red eyes.
King’s short story would later be adapted into a feature film, “Mercy,” and while it’s less well-regarded, it’s easier to track down than the ‘80s “The Twilight Zone” episode.
