One Star Trek: Discovery Change Made Season 3 A Challenge For Doug Jones
By WITNEY SEIBOLD
In the third season of "Star Trek: Discovery," the crew went through a time warp, and Saru (Doug Jones) stepped up to serve as the starship captain.
The show's characters, like the viewers, have to listen to their captain, which stresses Jones out as an actor. He told Trek News he had only expected to play a supporting role.
"I was intimidated by the responsibility and the gravity of it," Jones said. He added that Sonequa Martin-Green still leads, but "to be a captain was a daunting responsibility."
Jones noted it took a lot for his character to overcome a biological fear, and he could relate to Saru's bravery. As Saru grew more confident, Jones said it taught him a lot.
"I have imposter syndrome as a person anyway, so I just had to say to myself, 'Oh, I'll have to fake my way through this one," Jones said.
