One Season 4 Moment Had Bones' Showrunner Under Heavy Fire From Fans

The FOX series "Bones" unfolds a six-season-long will-they-won't-they dynamic between forensic analyst Dr. Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Special Agent Booth (David Boreanaz).
No moment with Bones and Booth has stung viewers quite like the showrunners' decision to hype up a "sex scene" in Season 4 that ultimately turned out to be a hallucination.
In an interview with Assignment X, the outlet noted that showrunner Hart Hanson "got in a little bit of trouble" for his misleading characterization of the season finale.
Hanson told the outlet, "The audience saw something else — it wasn't real, but it wasn't a dream, and I got in trouble with people saying, 'You lied for saying it wasn't a dream.'"
In addition to the fans' disappointment, the network was dissatisfied with the decision. Hanson admitted to the error, stating, "We wouldn't do that again. Not in that way."
Learning from his false promises, Hanson vowed to be cautious, expressing, "I am going to be more careful," after the Season 4 debacle, stating, "People are really mad at me."
