One Improvised Charlie Day Line Baffled The Entire It’s Always Sunny Cast

Despite “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” being a scripted show, many moments of the series are ad-libbed, as some of the cast revealed in their “The Always Sunny Podcast.”
On the podcast, writer and co-producer Megan Ganz recalled one of the show's funniest improvised lines during a scene with Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, and Rob McElheIt.
In the episode “The Gang Recycles Their Trash,” Mac and Dennis are talking to Charlie. The two have a side discussion about how Charlie isn’t listening and doesn’t understand.
Charlie chimes in, saying, “Yeah, he doesn’t even get us, man.” Dennis was supposed to say more, but Day’s improvisation was too good not to use in the episode.
On the blooper reel, Howerton and McElhenney burst into laughter. It was worked into the script, with Dennis now trying to explain to Charlie that they're talking about him.
