Obi-Wan Kenobi Hid Reva’s Star Wars History Right Under Our Noses

The “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series brought one of the most complicated antagonists in “Star Wars,” Moses Ingram’s Reva Sevander, a Jedi-hunting Inquisitor.
Reva is later revealed to be a former Youngling who survived Anakin Skywalker’s attack on the Jedi Temple. She’s trying to get close enough to Darth Vader to kill him.
The show’s costume designer, Suttirat Larlarb, shared with Variety how she alluded to Reva’s history by giving her armor “less flamboyant” details than the other Inquisitors.
Larlarb explained, “There’s a detail on her leather cuirass which is subtle.” It was a “low and long and sharp ‘fin’ that looked like a front-facing external spine.”
She continued, “Moses latched on to that detail as a reference to her divided but sharpened heart.” The designers also put the imperial symbol “onto the reverse of her split cape.”
Larlarb believed the symbol was “another way to express her conflicted allegiance.” Reva failed to kill Darth Vader but ultimately ended her conflict and returned to the light side.
