New Fear Street Movie Coming From Watcher Director Chloe Okuno
By JEREMY MATHAI
After Netflix’s “Fear Street” trilogy received all sorts of critical and audience acclaim, the streaming giant plans to let the scary times keep rolling. It appears that the next film in the franchise is about to get a big boost in talent behind the camera, as Above the Line reports the exciting news that Chloe Okuna will step into the director's chair.
Based on the popular novels written by R.L. Stine, the movies follow teenage friends who stumble upon an ancient curse that's behind countless Shadyside murders and disappearances over the last several hundred years. Released in July of 2021, the trilogy proved to be a highlight of the summer with some nifty kills, great performances, and buckets of bloody fun.
Okuno, who recently directed the excellent horror-thriller "Watcher" and previously made a name for herself with her short film "Slut," has reportedly closed a deal to direct the fourth movie. No plot details on the sequel have been made public yet, but the anthology nature of the franchise leaves the opportunity for a new creative direction to take place.
