Director Fede Alvarez, perhaps best known for "Don’t Breathe," will diverge from Ridley Scott’s prequel series in the next "Alien" flick, which will go straight to Hulu. According to Deadline, a whole new set of characters will also be introduced, with actor Cailee Spaeny "in talks" to be the untitled film’s lead.
Spaeny has been seen before in "Bad Times at the El Royale," the HBO series "Mare of Easttown" and the Showtime Original "The First Lady." According to Deadline, the actor has been the top choice for the role "for some time," impressing during multiple meetings with Alvarez and other producers.
According to Deadline, the film is considered to be a "top priority," with plot details being kept secret. Production on this next "Alien" project is expected to begin by early next year, with Cailee Spaeny being the only known cast member so far.
