Netflix Left A Crucial Plot Point Out Of Avatar: The Last Airbender
By RAFAEL MOTAMAYOR
Netflix’s live-action “Avatar: The Last Airbender” makes many changes to the source material, but Aang’s mission remains the same: master all four elements to save the world.
While Aang's goal is unchanged between the live-action and animated shows, the Netflix series fails to show him trying to learn waterbending.
Aang spends all of Season 1 of the live-action series worried about failing the world but never tries to do any waterbending.
The show skips many moments from the cartoon, such as when Aang asks Katara to teach him what she knows or for a waterbending teacher when they reach the North Pole.
Although the season ends with Katara being declared a waterbending master, and she promises to teach Aang, this change to the original story makes little sense.
