My Adventures With Superman Used Dragon Ball Z To Reinvent Supergirl
By RAFAEL MOTAMAYOR
In "My Adventures With Superman" season 2, episode 5, titled "Most Eligible Superman," the show reinvents Supergirl, Kara Zor-El, by drawing heavy inspiration from "Dragon Ball Z."
Kara sports an outfit akin to Android 18's and displays a similarly cold demeanor that softens when she meets Jimmy Olsen, echoing the relationship between Krillin and Android 18.
Upon meeting Superman, Kara engages him in combat, revealing her role as a "scion" of the Kryptonian Empire, looking for a warrior to join her in her conquest of the universe.
This narrative is reminiscent of the Saiyan Saga from "Dragon Ball Z." It makes Kara the Raditz figure, aiming to recruit the protagonist — a family member — for her mission.
While Kara is indoctrinated and manipulated by Brainiac, she'll likely turn against him and ally with Superman later, mirroring Vegeta's transformation from villain to hero.
