Morgan Freeman Starred In A Forgotten Episode Of The Twilight Zone
By MICHAEL BOYLE
In the eerie twilight of 1985, long before Morgan Freeman became a household name, he graced the small screen in a long-forgotten episode of Rod Serling’s “The Twilight Zone.”
The episode "Dealer's Choice" unfolds in the dimly lit room of a poker game. A group of men, engrossed in their card-playing camaraderie, welcomes a new player to the game.
Unknown to Freeman and the other players, the new arrival at the poker table is no ordinary participant. He is the Devil, on a quest to claim a soul from the players.
Freeman portrays Tony, the charismatic peacemaker of the group, who introduces a delightful twist. The role showcases Freeman's ability to embody a charming personality.
As the Devil's plan to claim a man’s soul becomes evident, Tony steps up to defend his friend. However, the group starts to suspect that the Devil might be cheating with his hand.
Directed by Wes Craven, the episode takes a turn as the group plays intensely to save a soul. The players assert, “But up here in New Jersey, we do things a little differently!”
