Mike White Made The White Lotus An Offer F. Murray Abraham Couldn't Refuse
By MIYAKO PLEINES
With “Scarface” being one of the actor's greatest gangster claims to fame, including F. Murray Abraham’s Bert di Grasso in Season 2 of “The White Lotus” adds the right amount of mob presence for a series set in Sicily. While some might be hesitant to check in to a hotel chain notorious for having people turn up dead, Abraham couldn't resist the offer.
In a recent interview for Collider, Abraham opened up about his decision to spend time at the glamorous White Lotus. He said, “Think about it. It was shooting in Sicily with this script, with Mike White, and with this cast. How can you say no? You just say, ‘Please, please, please.’”
Abraham was so eager to take on the role of Bert, who playfully vacillates between a cringy old man and the wise patriarch of the di Grasso family. But when it came to prepping for the part he told Collider, “It was really all on the page. I have to give [Mike White] complete credit for it. There was some improvisation, but very little. It wasn't necessary.”
