Marvel's What If...? Season 2 Will See The Return Of Cate Blanchett As Hela
By ERIN BRADY
Marvel’s “What If...?” Season 2 is slated for an early 2023 release, and with the show’s return comes a massive star to reprise her role. Show director Bryan Andrews revealed at a LightBox Expo panel that Cate Blanchett will lend her voice to Season 2 as Hela, the villainous half-sister of Thor and Loki, who was first introduced in “Thor: Ragnarok.”
Little information is known about the show’s return, but Andrews seemingly teased that an episode will be dedicated to Hela, showing a side of her that wasn’t shown in “Ragnarok.” Given how popular the villain is, it’s no surprise that the Goddess of Death will once again make an appearance, though it is exciting that Blanchett will lend her voice to the character.
Although news surrounding “What If...?” is being heavily guarded, the new season’s first episode was shown at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 and is reported to revolve around Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell). Since “What If...?” showcases the alternative lives each Marvel character could have had, there are endless possibilities for Hela’s return.
