Kevin Feige Watches This DC Film For Inspiration On Every Single MCU Movie
By JOE ROBERTS
While it’s hard to imagine Marvel films struggling against DC movies, there was a time when titles like 1978’s “Superman” were smashing box-office hits.
Even Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige respects the work accomplished by the classic DC superhero film, according to the book “MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios.”
Feige shared with the authors that he considers “Superman” to be “the archetype of the perfect superhero film origin story” and the ideal approach for action-hero filmmaking.
He added, “We watch it before we make any one of our films.” One aspect of the film that is present in many early Marvel movies is creating a story with a light-hearted tone.
While the DCEU introduced a darker version of the hero in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel,” Richard Donner’s “Superman” respected the comic character as a shining paragon of morality.
