Juno Temple’s Casting Changed How Ted Lasso’s Writers Handled Keeley
By VANESSA ARMSTRONG
Spoiler Warning!
This story contains spoilers for
Season 3 of “Ted Lasso.”
It’s difficult to imagine anyone but Juno Temple in the role of the beloved, bubbly Keeley from “Ted Lasso,” but it turns out that there is a reason for that: the writers.
Brett Goldstein, a show writer who also plays Roy, said, “Of all the actors, she’s the one that, from the early days, we changed the way we wrote Keeley, so it was more like Juno.”
While Goldstein shared he was initially intimidated by Temple, he has nothing but praise for her, adding, “She’s so naturally funny in the way that she’s funny, and how she is.”
He continued, “When we first met, she was like, ‘If we trust each other, we can make something really special here.’ It was really magical, building this relationship.”
Unfortunately, Roy and Keeley have decided to end their relationship in the show, but many fans are hoping that the two characters will get back together by the end of the series.
