Joker 2 Won't Exist in New DC Universe, The Batman 2 is Still Years Away
By ERIN BRADY
With the hiring of James Gunn and Peter Safran as the heads of DC Studios, it’s still being determined what direction they will be taking the studio after the duo formally begin their positions on November 1. However, it seems Gunn and Safran won't be responsible for all future DC projects, such as the upcoming sequel to “The Batman” and "Joker: Folie à Deux."
The universe built out by Gunn and Safran will not include the upcoming "Joker: Folie à Deux," which will be overseen by Warner Bros. heads Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy. And while both Todd Phillips' “Joker” and Matt Reeve’s “The Batman” were conceived and presented as separate entities from the DCEU, this new overall could mean that Phillips’ and Reeves' vision might be changed.
Ultimately, we are still very much in the dark about what will happen with Gunn and Safran co-heading this new venture. "The Batman" sequel won't arrive in theaters until 2025, so it may be a while until fans get any answers.
