Jennifer Lawrence Refused To Do Just One Thing For
The Hunger Games

“The Hunger Games” producers wanted young actor Jennifer Lawrence to change herself in order to look more like their idea of Katniss Everdeen, the movie's hero, but she refused.
In an interview with SciFiNow, Lawrence explained that there was one request that was just too much for her to agree to, which is surprising given her deep commitment to roles.
The producers asked her to lose weight. Lawrence said, “In the first movie, when it was obviously being talked about, like, 'It's 'The Hunger Games,' you have to lose 10 pounds.'”
Lawrence disagreed with the filmmakers, stating, “We have control over this image; we have control over this role model. Why would we make her something unobtainable and thin?”
She elaborated further on the body image issue: “This is a person that young girls [...] will be looking up to [...] and we have control over it, so why not make her strong?”
“I was very adamant about that [...] [O]ur industry doesn't take enough responsibility for [...] these unrealistic expectations, and I don't want to be part of that,” she added.
