James Gunn And Peter Safran To Lead DC Film, TV, And Animation Division
By VALERIE ETTENHOFER
DC has been struggling for years to keep up with the competition and consistently produce quality work. Projects like “The Justice League” and “Batman v Superman” are a few of the failed films that disappointed fans when they didn’t live up to the hype. However, things could start moving in a positive direction very quickly, now that the studio is under new leadership.
“Peacemaker” and “The Suicide Squad” director James Gunn will be taking over DC Studios with “Shazam!” producer Peter Safran, an unprecedented change given that filmmakers rarely accept high-level executive positions. DC Studios was previously known as DC Films, but the unexpected departure of company president Walter Hamada has led to a corporate rebranding.
As co-chairs and co-CEOs, the pair will lead DC projects not only in film but also in television and animation. In addition to their new corporate roles, Gunn and Safran will be developing, directing, and producing their own projects.
