Jackie Chan Made His Own Indiana Jones Years After Raiders Of The Lost Ark
By BEN PEARSON
In 1986, Jackie Chan took a page from the Indiana Jones playbook with his film "Armour of God," a clear nod to the adventure genre redefined by "Raiders of the Lost Ark."
Chan, who co-wrote, directed, and starred in the film, plays a character named Jackie, a treasure hunter with a knack for getting into and out of dangerous situations.
The opening scene draws heavily from "Raiders," with Chan's character stealing an artifact and performing daring stunts, one of which nearly cost him his life during the shoot.
Despite a slow middle act filled with romantic and comedic subplots, the film redeems itself with an action-packed final act where Chan's martial arts prowess is on full display.
Even though "Armour of God" may not match the iconic status of "Raiders of the Lost Ark," it provides a unique and entertaining spin on the treasure-hunting adventure formula.
