It’s Official, All Of The Kids In House Of The Dragon Are Doomed
By SHANIA RUSSELL
Spoiler Warning!
This post contains spoilers for Season 1 of "House of the Dragon."
Pour one out for the children of Westeros, because their days are clearly numbered. We’ve already seen many tragic deaths in “House of the Dragon,” including the horrific fate of Lucerys Velaryon, and it’s pretty clear that the same fate looms on the horizon for all the other young characters.
The cold war between Alicent and Rhaenyra had brewed for years, but things didn’t really kick into high gear until little Aemond had his eye slashed out by Lucerys. This sets into motion the eventual murder of Lucerys at the hand of Aemond — or at least his dragon — and one thing is clear: Rhaenyra will take the life she believes she’s owed.
As if it weren’t bad enough that Rhaenyra and Alicent are gunning for each other’s children, enter Daemon “King of Chaos” Targaryen. When offered peace terms including courtly positions for their children, Daemon says “I would rather feed my sons to the dragons than have them carry shields and cups for your drunken usurper c*** of a king,” and we take his word for it.
This violence has trickled down to the kids, and while they aren’t fighting with sharpened teeth like Aegon’s bastards, the Targaryen children know it’s a fight to the death. In the finale we see Jacaerys pummeling his brother in sword practice to desperately help the boy get better as if Jace knows that when the moment eventually comes, Luc won’t stand a chance.
