Isaac Asimov Made Star Wars History By Shouting In A Movie Theater

Isaac Asimov is considered one of the biggest names in sci-fi, with his stories influencing many other works, including “Dune” and “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.”
Surprisingly, Asimov wasn’t the biggest TV and movie sci-fi fan. However, the renowned writer seemed to really enjoy “Star Wars,” as author John Phillip Peecher revealed.
In his “Star Wars – The Making Of Return Of The Jedi” book, Peecher shared Asimov’s reaction during a preview screening of “The Empire Strikes Back” in New York.
Apparently, Asimov stood up from his seat and shouted, “Start part three!” Asimov recounted that moment during an appearance on “The David Letterman Show” in 1980.
At the time, Lucas talked about making nine total movies. Asimov lamented, “At the rate they’re going they’ll do the last few after I’m dead, which doesn’t strike me as fair.”
Sadly, he was right, as Asimov passed away in 1992 at 72. The acclaimed sci-fi author not only missed the prequel trilogy but also adaptations of his own work.
