Hugh Jackman Actually Approached Ryan Reynolds About Returning As Wolverine In Deadpool 3
By ERNESTO VALENZUELA
Fans weren’t expecting to see Hugh Jackman return as Wolverine after “Logan,” but were thrilled by the announcement he’d be reprising the role alongside Ryan Reynolds in “Deadpool 3.” Jackman said a Wolverine and Deadpool crossover has “been brewing for a long time,” ever since he saw the first “Deadpool” movie in 2016.
Jackman said Reynolds tried to convince him to return as Wolverine “on the daily” after “Deadpool” hit theaters, but Jackman finally caved after Reynolds had given up. Jackman called Reynolds to share the news, and said Reynolds “[couldn’t] believe the timing” of the call, because he was about to enter a meeting with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
The duo announced Jackman’s return on Twitter shortly after, sending MCU fans into a frenzy. Reynolds is thrilled to have Jackman join the “Deadpool 3” team and said, “to be on set with one of my closest friends every day is a dream come true. But to do it with these two iconic characters side by side, that's beyond our wildest dreams."
