Unsurprisingly, Disney/Marvel fired Jonathan Majors almost immediately after a New York jury found him guilty of harassment and assault in the third degree in December 2023.
Now that the MCU is officially moving on without Majors, they must explore solutions that will salvage future projects and ensure a cohesive narrative.
Rumors suggest that Marvel may shift away from Kang to focus on a different classic villain in Doctor Doom, which may not even require the studio to soft-reboot its non-Kang plans.
Alternatively, Marvel Studios could just recast the role, a strategy they've employed before, be it due to creative differences, salary disputes, or scheduling conflicts.
Marvel could nod to the recasting without explicitly acknowledging it, so long as they do so in a way that doesn't feel insensitive or makes light of the real-world situation.
