Based on the popular tabletop role-playing game, “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” has been surprisingly successful, becoming one of 2023’s best-rated films.
Casting several A-list celebrities, like Chris Pine, as the misfit adventurers certainly helped the film’s appeal; however, viewers were in for a treat with one superstar’s cameo.
Michelle Rodriguez’s burly barbarian, Holga, is revealed partway through the movie to be married to a halfling, played by none other than Bradley Cooper, albeit miniaturized.
Co-director John Francis Daley, who worked with Cooper on “Kitchen Confidential,” reached out to the actor to do a cameo, sharing, “He was like, ‘I’m on board. Sign me up.’”
Cooper saw a nearly-complete cut of the film, which he told Daley was “a triumph.” The actor was then shrunken down to play the halfling with the help of Hollywood magic.
Daley explained that they used blue screens and rebuilt set pieces for the scene, with the co-director reading Holga’s part at Cooper’s request “for old times sake.”
