How Reacher’s Alan Ritchson Cost Himself The Role Of Marvel’s Thor

After 20 years in the business, Alan Ritchson is having his moment. Perfectly suited to his starring role in Prime Video's "Reacher," you'd think the character was written for him.
Things would be different if Ritchson landed the role of Thor Odinson in the then up-and-coming Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it's his own fault he missed out on the coveted part.
He told Men's Health that he thought acting didn't matter and would get the part if he looked enough like Thor. Instead, the casting crew said he lacked "the craft" they wanted.
No actor wants to hear, "You're not good at acting." Ritchson took the criticism to heart, began studying with an acting coach, and joined an acting class.
