How Paul Walker Immersed Himself Into The Fast & Furious World
By MIYAKO PLEINES
The “Fast & Furious” franchise is one of the most successful and entertaining series from the last two decades, with the original film spawning nine sequels and a spin-off. Paul Walker played Brian O’Conner — one of the central figures of the franchise — before his untimely passing, a character he played well thanks to his prior connection to
the world of street racing.
As the “Fast & Furious” films revolve around the underground scene and lifestyle of street racing, this world could be a little intimidating for most people. However, Walker revealed he had “always been into cars,” and although he preferred domestic cars to their foreign competitors, he could still converse with people when he attended street races.
According to Walker, “They appreciated the fact that I knew their cars, even though that wasn’t something that I was really into.” He also said his time spent at street races helped him prepare for his role, explaining, “Basically, you’re selling a world as an actor, right? I mean it’s like any salesperson: if you believe in your product, you know your product, you sell it a lot better.”
