How Emily Deschanel Dealt With The Burnout From 12 Straight Years Of Bones
By SANDY SCHAEFER
After 12 years of intense work on “Bones” solving crimes, Emily Deschanel only took a two-year hiatus from acting, except for a brief appearance on “The Simpsons” in 2018.
In a 2022 interview with People, Deschanel spoke of her hiatus from acting, stating, “I took almost two years off from working as an actor. I wanted that time with my kids.”
She was tired and knew she needed a break: “Honestly, I was burned out [...] I'm lucky enough that I don't have to take every job, and my husband [David Hornsby] works, as well.”
Like most television actors, Deschanel has a family and children, so she dealt with burnout by realizing that she is not required to take every role and to take needed breaks.
Rejuvenated and having savored precious moments with her family, Deschanel has returned to the world of acting with projects such as “Devil in Ohio,” “Continue,” and “Big Boys.”
