How Dune: Part Two Convinced Christopher Walken To Return To Acting
By CHRIS EVANGELISTA
Although he had a small role in “Dune: Part Two,” Christopher Walken delivers a memorable performance as Shaddam IV, the Padishah Emperor of the Known Universe.
His role in “Dune” marks Walken’s return to acting four years after appearing on the Apple TV+ show “Severance.” The actor opened up about his return to movies with Vanity Fair.
In the interview, Walken explained, “I had, of course, seen the first ‘Dune’ a number of times. I loved it, and I admired [director Denis Villeneuve’s] movies.”
Walken continued, “To be with all those terrific actors — Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin, Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, and Stellan Skarsgård — and to go to Budapest.”
The short filming commitment also appealed to Walken: “It was only, I think, three weeks. So, everything about it was attractive.” For him, this opportunity was too good to pass.
