Episode five of HBO’s "House of the Dragon” brings us to a pair of familiar castles with very stubborn hosts: House Arryn in the Eyrie and the Twins, controlled by House Frey.
HBO gave showrunner Ryan Condal a soaring budget to create a sense of grandeur. This allows them to go back on occasion and improve upon what came before in “Game of Thrones.”
Early on, we see a new-and-improved take of the Eyrie, lingering on a gorgeous shot of the mountain fortress that proves why it has withstood many a siege over the long centuries.
Next, we see the most hated House in Westeros, the Twins. Viewers will remember the savage Red Wedding that cut the Stark family at its knees during the War of the Five Kings.
A complete view of the actual Twins is seen, something we were never afforded in "Game of Thrones" — an expensively-detailed dragon in the frame on top of it all, just because.
