Henry Cavill Officially Announces His Return as Superman
By RYAN SCOTT
The rumors have finally been put to rest as Henry Cavill announced his return as the Man of Steel on Instagram. The actor said in the video, “I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you all a chance to watch ‘Black Adam.’ But now that plenty of you have, I wanted to make it official: I am back as Superman.”
Cavill’s Instagram post also had a caption, “A very small taste of what’s to come,” meaning that a sequel to “Man of Steel” may finally be in the works. His announcement raises questions about the DCEU’s future, the Snyderverse, and what role Cavill’s Superman will play, though Dwayne Johnson is already planning a showdown between Black Adam and Superman.
“Man of Steel” was met with mixed reviews, and Warner Bros.’s decision to jump straight into a crossover movie with Batman to catch up with Marvel instead of fleshing out each character didn’t produce the success they hoped. As a result, Cavill’s Superman never had his moment in the sun, but perhaps that time will be soon upon movie audiences.
