Harvey Weinstein Threw A Wrench In Eddie Redmayne’s
My Week
With Marilyn Performance
By MATTHEW BILODEAU
The 2011 biographical drama "My Week With Marilyn" depicts the time in Marilyn Monroe's life when she formed a kinship with production assistant Colin Clark. Michelle Williams did a fantastic job as Monroe, and although Eddie Redmayne does an admirable job as Clark, his performance may have been better if it hadn't been for the infamous Harvey Weinstein.
Since convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein was an executive producer on the film, he could be found walking around the film's set, which put Redmayne on edge. Redmayne talked about how Weinstein got in his head, saying, "I remember he told me, on day one, to walk with him. He said, 'Walk me.' And I was terrified."
He continued, "And he sort of told me that basically he didn't want me in the movie, and that I was moving my face too much. Um, so my sort of overwhelming memory of that film is just trying not to move my face, which [...] Explains quite a lot of the performance." Redmayne would get the last laugh, however, as he won Best Actor at the Academy Awards for "The Theory of Everything."
