Halloween Kills Originally Featured A Much Younger Laurie Strode
By WITNEY SEIBOLD
David Gordon Green’s “Halloween Kills” from 2021 was supposed to include many flashbacks to 1978, including a young Laurie Strode re-enacting events from the first film.
Jamie Lee Curtis’ status as a horror icon put a stop to writer Scott Teems’ idea because they would have had to cast a younger actress, and the co-screenwriters found that unwise.
There was talk of casting a younger actress and using special effects to superimpose Curtis’ face over the new actress’, but it would have taken too much time and money.
Still, there were a few flashbacks in “Halloween Kills” set in 1978, but makeup, lighting, and voice acting played a huge role in making Dr. Loomis seem like the original.
It was important that “Halloween Kills” answer the question of what Laurie and Michael Myers were doing in the present, and not spend a lot of time mucking about in the past.
